Homemade Burger Buns

Ingredients

  • 2 tbsp sugar
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 2ยผ tsp instant yeast (1 packet)
  • ยพ cup warm milk
  • ยผ cup warm water
  • 1 egg
  • 2 tbsp butter, softened

Optional Topping

  • 1 egg + 1 tbsp water (for egg wash)
  • Sesame seeds

Instructions

Mix the Dough

  • In a large bowl, combine flour, sugar, salt, and instant yeast.
  • Add warm milk, warm water, egg, and softened butter.
  • Mix until a soft dough forms.

Knead

  • Knead the dough for 8โ€“10 minutes until smooth, soft, and elastic.

First Rise

  • Place the dough into a lightly greased bowl.
  • Cover and let rise for about 1 hour or until doubled in size.

Shape the Buns

  • Divide the dough into 8 equal portions.
  • Shape each piece into a smooth ball.
  • Place on a lined baking tray and flatten slightly.

Second Rise

  • Cover loosely and allow the buns to rise for 30โ€“45 minutes until puffy.

Bake

  • Preheat the oven to 375ยฐF (190ยฐC).
  • Brush the tops with egg wash.
  • Sprinkle sesame seeds on top if desired.
  • Bake for 15โ€“18 minutes or until beautifully golden brown.

Cool

  • Let the buns cool before slicing and serving.
