Ingredients

For the Cake:
• 2 cups all-purpose flour
• 1½ cups sugar
• 2 teaspoons baking powder
• ½ teaspoon salt
• ½ cup butter (softened)
• 3 large eggs
• 1 cup milk
• 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
• A few drops of pink food colouring (optional)

For the Pink Frosting:
• 1 cup butter (softened)
• 3–4 cups icing sugar (powdered sugar)
• 3 tablespoons milk or cream
• 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
• Pink food colouring
• Strawberry flavouring (optional)

 

 

 



Decoration:
• Fresh strawberries or strawberry pieces
• Powdered sugar for dusting (optional)

Method
1. Prepare the cake
• Preheat oven to 180°C (350°F).
• Grease and line a square baking pan.
• Mix flour, baking powder, and salt together.
• Cream butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
• Add eggs one at a time, then mix in vanilla.
• Add flour mixture and milk gradually until smooth.
• Add pink colouring if desired.
• Pour into the pan and bake for 25–30 minutes until a toothpick comes out clean.
• Allow to cool completely.
2. Make the frosting
• Beat butter until creamy.
• Gradually add icing sugar.
• Add milk, vanilla, strawberry flavouring, and pink colouring.
• Whip until smooth and fluffy.
3. Decorate
• Spread the pink frosting evenly over the cooled cake.
• Cut into square pieces.
• Pipe small frosting swirls on each piece.
• Top with strawberries and a light dusting of powdered sugar.

Yield: About 12–16 cake squares
Texture: Soft vanilla sponge with creamy strawberry-pink frosting. 🍓
